At the Institute for Open Space Planning and Design, people are at the center of consideration in planning and design activities at all scales. Research questions are broad and applied in the sense of a livable, high-quality designed environment in the city and countryside. Natural scientific, artistic and design-oriented as well as social and political science approaches to the topics are used in the analysis of open spaces as well as the debate about their further development.

Die Wahrnehmung und Aneignung von Kulturlandschaften nimmt alle unsere Sinne in Anspruch. Wir genießen die Aussichten auf Landschaften, wir hören die Geräusche der Zivilisation, wir fühlen den Wind und schmecken die Früchte der Wildnis und der Gärten. All das macht uns lebendig. Anlässlich des 125jährigen Bestehens der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur soll die Landschaft als Natur- und als Kulturprodukt in den Mittelpunkt der Diskussion gestellt werden. Am 5., 6. und 7. Juli findet in Hannover eine Tagung zum Thema statt. Save the date!
