Betreuung: Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Antje Stokman, Dipl.-Ing. Sabine Rabe
The aim of this work is to design concepts for the future development of Jingxian. This rural Chinese region in the southern part of Anhui Province is located 300km west of Shanghai.
Consciously focusing on the topic of landscape and its different potentials, different regional scale concepts are created. The results of this work shall help the county by encouraging the discussion of its future perspectives.
The combination of rational and intuitive methods has been necessary to find the routes for the approach of “Research by Traveling”. Further it has been preliminary for the future concept design to condense the mass of detail information and impressions into a simplified comprehensive level. The intermediate result of this analysing step is the definition of three different Landscape Units. Due to their varying potentials, determining key themes for the region’s future development are defined. The concepts “Green Farming”, “Thriving Woods” and “Discovery Tourism” describe rough outlines how these fields can be developed to create a sustainable and individual future for Jingxian.
